Hi I have a lot on pressure just under the middle of my rib cage. It makes it very uncomfortable when leaning over or sitting for long periods of time. It is like when a baby is pushing up under your ribs. I have not had a pregnancy test as my doctor said he thinks I am going through menopause, about 5 months ago. I went off the pill in January since then I have been getting my periods every 8 weeks, just like I did before I went on the pill. I have been unable to use a condom as it chaffs too much. My last period was in middle September, it was vary light. I am currently on 200mg oroxine for thyroids. My doctor said this feeling is part of menopause. I have lost 2 kilos in the last 3 weeks but the area under my rib cage is getting large. What can cause this uncomfortable feeling?
Apart the bloating due to menopause, there are other factors including: - bowel problems/infections (bacteria, candida, parasites) - urinary tract infections
I'd suggest to:
- do abdominal ultrasound - urine analysis - stool analysis (culture for candida and examination for ova/parasites) - transvaginal ultrasound - hormonal balance in blood
Meanwhile, I'd advise to:
- eat often and small portions - do not lay down immediately after eating - do more physical activity - avoid carbonated/energetic drinks - drink more water - avoid fatty/high calories foods - take probiotics
