Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Cause Of Persistent Bruising In Left Ankle?
I have an area about 3 inches above my inside left ankle bone that is always discolored (bruised?). There is slight swelling directly above the discolored area, but I have no pain either place. Do you have any idea what might be causing that persistent bruising?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. What you can see on your ankles are nothing more than varicose. Such condition is caused by increased blood pressure in the veins due to valves destruction, long time standing or even hot baths. You do not have to do anything with such low-advanced varicose if it does not bother you. If you feel uncomfortable with it, you may visit surgeon. To prevent development of this condition you should avoid long standing (and when standing try to move your calf muscle), after every hot bath you can wash your legs with lukewarm water. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
