What Is The Cause Of Palpitation At Night?

Hi Doctor, I have cervical spondylitis for which i am doing neck physiotheraphy excercises. I also have gastric problems and i have undergone endoscopy and doctor recommended HP Kit for the same. I have consulted Cardiologist 3 times in the last 6months and 3times ECG along with Thread Mill Test have been done, they have said nothing wrong with ECG. But sometimes particularly at night, i have lot of palpitations, i feel like the heart is beating faster, i immediately get up and then go for walk for sometime, have water and after sometime the palpitations become normal and i sleep....can you please explain why do we have such palpitations

Hi,

I have gone through your query and may mention the following factors as causes to palpitations at night:
- low blood pressure
- increased acidity of the stomach

I advise to:
- have light dinner
- avoid citrus, coffee, carbonated drinks/foods that can increase stomach acidity
- take 1 more pillow when sleeping (raise your shoulders, neck and head)
- try to control stress (herbal teas containing valeriana/chamomile can help)
