my 9 year old son started to complain with a headache last night he had a high temp I gave him paracetamol and he went to sleep he woke up.in the night crying and very up set this morning he is still the same he says the pain is at the back of his head and his temp has not come down

it is very difficult to say what is the exact cause as his fever and headeache is only for one day. it may be due to a simple viral fever or early manifestation of a severe infection such as meningitis. so best thing you can do is show him to your family physician or paediatrician. they will examine and arrange investigations. after examination and investgations your doctor can decide this is a simple viral fever or some other thing. until show him to your doctor, you can give paracetamole correct dose according to his weight 6 hourly.
