What is the cause of having lower jaw pain?

I have been having a pain in my lower jaw, right where my lower left jaw would move back towards my ear. Basically, right where the straight line of the jaw and going towards my ear below my ear lobe. I have not had my wisdom teeth pulled, too scared to do it, and they have never caused me problems
