ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,tonsils in the throat sometimes regress in size that they get hidden between the tonsillar pillars that they are not visible.
And when there is any infection, the tonsils enlarge in size.

When you suffered from sore throat, there is a possibility that the infection is limited only to your pharynx and not tonsils. So the small sized tonsils might not be visible as they are hidden between the tonsillar pillars.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
