What Is The Cause Of Clear Stringy Mucous?

Hello,
I have been experiencing a very thick clear stringy mucus that I force up usually first thing in the morning.
The only medicines that I am on is Prilosec 20mg and Lisinopril 5mg (both once a day). I have never smoked, both drink, but I do own pets.

I sometimes have a chocking feeling and get very nervous at times when experiencing this because usually I am a highly motivated person and this stops me in my tracks

I have spoke to my doctor, but he does not show a great concern about this issue.

Please advise.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can u understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion, your symptoms are not worrisome as you are not smoker.
But better to rule out pulmonary disease first.
So get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out infection in lungs.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.
Both of these can cause thick mucous production. So get done chest x ray and PFT to rule out infection and bronchitis.
If both of these are normal then no need to worry much for pulmonary causes.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
