What Is The Cause Of Bleeding In Stools?

Just looking for some advice - I'm a 20 year old female. About 4 months ago it used to hurt when I went for a poo and had a few speckles if bright red fresh blood. Since then it has been getting progressively worse to the point where I am now in agonising pain every time I go to the loo and what used to be speckles of blood when I wiped is now gushing with blood. Most times when I wipe there are a few clots of blood amongst the blood. I thought this was just a small tear but it is unbearable now. Obviously I don't want to go to the Drs unless I have too but I just need some advice. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of blood in stool in the form of speckles, now pain too in a female of 20 years. Does not want to go to the Doctors unless is a must.
Since you have having pain, bleeding the chances are that you have anal fissure with a bleeding vessel in it base or also an accompanying hemorrhoids.
Hence it is certain that you have a problem that is not settling and hence I would advise you the following:
Sitz bath.
Laxatives to keep stools soft.
Probiotics.
A course of an antibiotic and metronidazole.
Consult a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, per-rectal examination and proctoscopy if the pain allows to know the exact diagnosis and to have colonoscopy if colitis also is suspected.
This will give you the correct diagnosis and a proper management.
