Hello,

I have gone through your query and understood the concern. It is common to experience irregular menstrual cycles, prolonged cycles and spotting during the first 6-12 months of insertion of the implant. If you have noticed the spotting every time only after an intercourse, you should see your gynecologist for a speculum examination to exclude any local causes for the spotting. If the spotting/bleeding is seen on a cyclical basis, there is no reason to worry as scanty or absent periods are often seen with the implant. However, periodic check up is a must with every hormone contraceptive.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam
