What Is The Cause For The Pain In My Hip Joint With A History Of Breast Cancer?

I have pain in my hip joint which has developed over the last couple of months, it feels tender like a bruise but there is no bruise or injury. I had grade three breast cancer four years ago and am a bit worried but suspect its more likely to be arthritis?

Dear Ma'am,

Pain in the hip with a past history of breast cancer can be an alarming symptom and the first thing which needs to be ruled out is recurrence of the cancer. A bone scan is a good investigation to pick up bony metastasis in the body. If it is negative, the pain could be due to arthritis. Considering your history, it is advisable that you undergo a bone scan.
