What Is The Cause For Extreme Body Temperature?

I am 42 female. I have been feeling extreme in my body temperature lately, moving from overly hot to overly cold moment by moment. Particularly when sleeping but during the day as well. I can't stay constant and comfortable. External factors that might be at play: extreme winter conditions or pressure systems this year (I live in Cleveland), I went off the pill in September (have been on since age 16 except for time of having one kid), my aunt's (hyper)thyroid died in her 50s so I worry about that being hereditary, have been working out with regularity since November and lost a few pounds (141-133, height 5'7"). No big deal (weather?) or cause for concern?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Given your age and history of being on pills for almost 25 years, the features are suggestive of either, Peri-menopausal syndrome; or, persisting hormonal imbalance following pills' withdrawal.

These features are suggestive of thyroid problem.

Consult your gynecologist and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order tests if required, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable treatment (hormone replacement therapy).

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
