What Is The Cause And Treatment For Heavy Menstural Bleeding?

My period has lasted for over a month now, with a constant heavy flow. its so bad that whenenever I change my tampon, it will burst out after maybe 2 hours. This has happened before when I first started getting my period when younger but then I started having a normal cycle with no medication. Sadly, its hitting me harder then ever. I m only 20, so I shouldn t need to have my uterus removed. Would birth control help me?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Firstly, you do not have to get your uterus removed. The bleeding can be handled through medical management mostly. You seem to be experiencing hormone imbalance and the cause should be detected and treated. You need a proper clinical evaluation by an expert, blood counts including coagulation profile, urinalysis, sonogram of the pelvis/trans-vaginal sonogram, complete hormone profile. Management of a healthy BMI with healthy food and regular exercise also is needed. Further management can be planned after the investigation. You may need styptics and hormones to regulate the bleeding and contain it. Hope this helps.
