What Is The Cause And Treatment For 12mm By 12mm Thrombus In Heart?

A Cardiac Profusion test showed a 12mm by 12mm thrombus in my heart during the MRI scan. I have an appointment at an anti-coagulation clinic in three days time should I be taking any precautions in the meantime like taking aspirin or avoiding exertion?

Dear Gerard,

Usually thrombus occurs in heart after heart attack, when there are some regions, which don't contract. In this cases anticoagulation is needed to prevent stroke, as some part of thrombus can travel to brain through blood and cause stroke.
Before your appointment you can take aspirin and avoid strenuous exertions.

Hope I could help you

Wishing you good health
