Hello and welcome,
I understand the issue.
Pregnancy can be terminated using pills. But there is a certain population of women that can take the pills. If the pregnancy is inside the
uterus, the duration of pregnancy is less than 63 days and the patient does not have any other complicating factor and is not allergic to drugs, then only pills can be taken. They need to be prescribed by a gynecologist after examination and confirming the above requirements. Also some cases may land up with an
incomplete abortion and may ultimately need a D and C.
If the pregnancy is more than 63 days from the last menstrual period, pills cannot be taken. A D and C is needed in that case.
So please get the duration of pregnancy confirmed and also its location [ will be clear in the ultrasound] and if it
fits the above criteria you may take the pills after prescription.
Please do not worry so much about the D and C. It is a minor procedure and can be done on a day care basis. It does not require any hospital stay in most cases.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
