What Is My Ultrasound Report Suggestive Of?

Hi, I have severe pain in my right side occassionally - some months for 30 mins which is incapacitating, which I think is my ovary and possibly ovulation. An ultrasound showed that - the right ovary appears normal and measures 6cc, the left ovary is 12cc with a corpus luteum cyst measuring 2.3 cm. My question is in the tests do they label the ovary I feel on my right as the right ovary or the left? Is the pain I m feeling possibly because of the cyst on my left ovary ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There is a small cyst in one of your ovaries. Nothing much to worry as it is a harmless and non-cancerous one. Generally, it will settle by itself.

You can take analgesics like mefenamic acid in case of pain.

If you experience problems like infertility you can get it removed. Consult a gynaecologist for expert opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
