Meditation means you need to sit quietly and concentrate on one thing with out any disturbances. It does give lot of mental peace.

Can I increase overall awareness like reacting to everything, I mean not like Spider-Man and stuff, but I was reading a book about batman how he works trains and stuff, but it said he received heavily mental training and was good enough to catch an arrow at mid flight and stuff. So is this possible? And I heard meditation works, but not the westernized meditation like we see in America.

I have been meditating for about 2 years.... a few days ago I found a you tube meditation on opening your third eye ... the pineal gland.... it has tones that are supposed to activate the pineal gland. I got a bit of a headache, which they say that is a sign it is opening...but I woke up the second day with signs of vertigo...off balance...if I bent over. stumbled a few times...,,this has been going on for two days now ...do you know if there is a correlation.. I was at my ob/gyn today...she said could be an ear infection..i have no signs of ear infection or sinus infection....she said to call my primary if it is still happening by Monday....do you think it is related to meditation?.....the only other change in my life was I got a cortisone shot in my heel on Tuesday. thx

Hello Doctor, What is the difference between the following? And your comments on both ideas Please... 1. Few people, especially in Tamilnadu, India (who are very much devoted to some god) - when they do their spiritual rituals - suddenly they dance little violently for about a minute and then they fall unconscious. In few minutes, they wake-up and become normal. I do not think they do it purposely, there are no materialistic benefits for them. People understand that incident as: the spirit of god entered into that being for that few moments. 2. Kundalini, the energy that is present at the root of the spinal cord for all human beings, (for more information on this topic please refer in WWW.WWWW.WW . When I do meditation , in strong feeling connection towards guru (bakthi), there is an upward force, I do start with body shake and then start levitating, especially in the presence of my Guru. Like in the previous case (first case) I do not go unconscious. I feel more awareness. I can call capital letter AWARENESS. I know what is happening around. I can listen the sounds around. I can feel for others - as the people around me might get scared. I feel more joyful. My Guru says it increases the mitochondria to 1300 percent. It is good for health physically and mentally. Please leave your comments on both.

I ve had Fibromyalgia for about 25 years now and am doing so bad it s scary. I ve changed my diet over the years and eat really well, vegetarian, no nightshades, all organics, well balanced. I meditate and do Yoga and started pool therapy but I become a wreck, even when I take it easy. My mind is going. Memory loss and confusion and balance is awful. About 4 years ago I had a fall and got Complex Regional Pain Syndrome to go with it. My chronic sinusitis has become unbearable with roaring in my ears and insane sinusitis. At 58, I m getting scared my mind days are numbered. Sincerely, R. Jane Gagner
