What Is Meant By Dense Breasts?

I am 72. It seems that I always have to go back after a mammogram due to dense breasts. And have an untrasound. They called me back once this time and want to do the testing again in 6 mo. Why? I am not sure if I would take anything IF they do find cancer.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
usually it doesnt mean that there is a cancer and this is suggestive of dense glands in breast with high proportion of fatty tissue. Then this is seen as dense on mammography an some areas of breast cant be easily visualized. SO it is always good to have frequent follow ups in these cases to detect any changes in mammogram. Also, ultrasound can be done as well to rule out any concerning signs but if it didnt indicate any focal lesions then there is no need for you to be worried.
