Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is loss of water content in discs between the small bones in the lower back at more than one level. The disc at level L 5 - S 1 is degenerated and causing pressure due to its bulging backwards. There can also be pressure on the exiting nerve roots along the sides and this causes pain, which is moderate on right side and mild on left side for you.

Treatment involves taking medications for neurogenic pain and restriction from doing heavy physical activities. Avoid sudden movement s at you lower back.Ointments cam also be applied. If pain persists even after taking medications for months with increase in severity then surgery can be done. Laser assisted minimally invasive surgery is also available.
