What Is Meaning Of Ear Drum Looking Dull?

I have a common cold and lots of mucus / congestion. Otherwise I am a healthy 36yr old female. On examining my ear today my Dr said one ear drum "looked a little dull". I got sidetracked and forgot to clarify what he meant. Is this an indication of an infection or just lots of congestion?

hello and welcome to health care magic,

A little dull means nothing and you do not have to worry about the same. It could just indicate a mild block in the drum or the middle ear which will clear in a week or two. If you have persistent ear block and ringing then you can get a audiometry evaluation done and get back to me or any ENT With the reports
