What Is Causing Delay In Period When Pregnancy Test Is Negative?

Good afternoon! I ve got a couple questions. First, I m quite regular (typically to the day) in terms of menstruation. I m currently 9 days late. I took a test when I was 2 days late, the test was negative. I have been experiencing a lot of ovarian discomfort on the left side only. I typically track my cycle, bodily symptoms, etc. I feel like I m ovulating, but that would mean I m ovulating 7-9 days after I was supposed to start menstruation. Might you suggest what could be going on?

Hi,
In the current scenario, you should either repeat the urine pregnancy test with a fresh early morning sample or go for the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. A trans-vaginal sonogram can aid in the clarification of the situation. The confirmation/exclusion of pregnancy can be thus done conclusively and further management planned. If, as you feel, you are ovulating instead of the onset of the menstruation, it can only mean that you had some hormonal imbalance this cycle and hence the delay. Hope this helps.
