What Is Cause And Treatment For Duodenal Stenosis?

I am 60 years old, weigh 100 lbs, am 5'2" tall. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 35 years ago and had ileum removed 25 years ago. I have been suffering with what I thought was acid reflux disease but after having upper endoscopy I was told that I do not have acid reflux but duodenal stenosis. Is this dangerous and what should I do to treat it?

General & Family Physician Dr. Bihle Nestor Mbinkar's  Response
Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic.
It is not very dangerous and treatment is often surgical. The need to treat this condition depends on the signs and symptoms you are presenting. If there are symptoms of intestinal obstruction, surgery would be needed but if the symptoms are not severe, surgery can be delayed.

I hope that answers your query. If you have more questions or any follow up query do not hesitate to write to us.

General Surgeon Dr. Mukund Savaskar's  Response
Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read your query and reviewed it with context to your query facts.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query, you seem to suffer from-
Loss of Weight due to ileal resection with Secondary Duodenal Stenosis with Stricturing Crohn's disease.
The accompanied crohn's disease with strictures in the granular inflammatory lesions in the duodenum, has been Causing Duodenal stenosis in your case. The cause of acid reflux is from this resultant secondary duodenal stenosis
Treatment-
-I would advise you to Consult GI surgeon and correct the fluid imbalance and lost weight from past ileal resection you had for ileal Crohn's disease.
-PIP treatment with Veloz D- for 4 weeks / accompanied with steroids would recoup the duodenal and gastric tissue, for the impending needful surgery.
-Stricteroplasty to correct duodenal stricture and resultant duodenal stenosis in your case.
-
Hope this would resolve your health issues in the best way possible.
Welcome for any further query in this regard.

Good Day!!
