Greetings
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Horseshoe kidney is a problem that develops before birth. It occurs when normal separation of both kidneys do not take place .

As your kidney is joined at the inferior pole there are few things to keep in mind. Firstly usually this type of kidney normally does not cause any problem and people live normal lives . So if you don't have problems at the related to kidney then you need not to worry. But horseshoe kidney may cause urinary tract obstruction in some individual . If ultrasound is done and no obstruction is noted then you can relax. Secondly kidney stones may cause more frequent obstruction if at all they develop . Therefore in case you have flank pains at any time then it is advisable to go to you doctor who will order an ultrasound to rule out any obstruction. That way you will be safe from any adverse consequences of such a kidney shape.

I hope the answer was helpful. In case you need any further assistance feel free to contact in writing .
