What Is A White Pimple Like Dot In The Ear Canal Of A Child Suggestive Of?

Hi. I am a RN and I have an otoscope at home. My son was complaining of itching ears so I looked in them and the one is completely clogged with ear wax to the point you can t sheee his ear drum and the other has a small white pimple looking dot that is in his ear canal. I was wondering what the white dot is and the other ear I tried putting saline in to get the wax out and made him tip his ear to be sure I got all the fluid out but it wasn t doing much. Is there a better way to get the wax out? Thank you.

Hi,

As per your query your son has symptoms of white pimple like a dot in the ear canal of a child which is due to the formation of pus pocket in the ear. Need not to worry about it. I would suggest you put anti-inflammatory ear drops. You should take an oral antibiotic along with antihistaminic drug combination. Maintain hygiene of the ear canal. Do Not touch or prick ear canal with any sharp object. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should go for drainage of pus by otoscopic examination.
