What Is A Safe Feeding Routine For A Baby?

hello dr, my baby is 3 months old now n weighs 6.5kg. since 2 days he s been vomitting alot after every feed. i burp him but he vomits along with it. wouldn t sleep at night n was very restless while feeding. i give him 2-3 formula feeds of 80ml & breastfeed him too. he s hungry every 1 1/2 hrs n he drinks till the last drop. plz suggest a feeding routine safe for him. i dont have enough milk to give him every 1 1/2hrs so tats why i started lactogen.

Hi,

His weight is pretty good for his age. Some vomiting and regurgitation of feed is normal in this age(physiological regurgitation), and need not be worried about. Feeding with mother in sitting position and burping for 10-15 minutes after each feeds will offer some help. This will gradually come down with time.

There is no need of any particular schedule/routine to feed. Feeding on demand is the best approach. Babies tends to be fussy overnight and sleep more during daytime- this is also normal. No need to worry about your milk out put- if baby sucks continuously for about 30 minutes per feed, sleeps after feeds, and passes urine 6-8 times a day- these all indicates that milk output is adequate. Amount of milk produced is automatically adjusted to baby's need. Be confident
