What Is A Purple Bruise On The Incision?

I felt tenderness at my right incision (had a LSH) today. When I looked I noticed a purple bruise that was not there before. I am 8 days post op. Its not real painful, not running a fever. The incision itself feels and looks fine. The bruise is directly above it though where my stomach folds over.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Glad to hear you had a safe surgery and the recovery is going on as expected but for this purple bruise. From all the information you have provided, there is no reason to get worried about this. It in no way represents any danger sign and would slowly fade away especially if it is small in size. However, f any drainage, fever or severe pains should set in, I will suggest you get this looked into.

Thanks and hope this helps. I wish you well.
