Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Scoliosis is better diagnosed in weight bearing position or functional position since it becomes apparent only while standing. Mild varieties or those without bony deformities tens to disappear on lying down. So for assessment of scoliosis it is standard practice to do x rays in standing position. After back surgeries sometimes the problem is muscle imbalance or change of bony alignment leading to scoliosis. Back pain associated with scoliosis is generally due to muscular imbalance and needs muscle imbalance correction by adequate and related physiotherapy. Sometimes support in the form of braces is also required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have scoliosis and back pain. The right upper back pain radiates to my shoulder and down to my thumb with some numbness. Chiropractic adjustments, massage and exercise helps some, but now enough. I also have arthritis in my hands with intermittent trigger fingers . What would you suggest

My chronic back pain is undertreated...very undertreated. I m a 19 year old male who was diagnosed with MILD scoliosis about 3 weeks ago. While the curve of my spine is not very painful looking to the naked eye I m in pain all the time. I m out of vicodin and tramadol and have to make it 1 whole week without effective pain relief. I am currently working with a chiropractor to help my back, but it is a slow process and results are not immediate or lasting. Anyway, now I m SOL with no relief and don t want to call my doctor sounding like a drug seeker My doctor only gave me #20 5mg vicodin, and I had to call him for a refill after just 1 week.

Hi, I have had a spinal fusion for scoliosis. It happened over 2 years ago, but a year and a half after the surgery my back started hurting. I ve been told it s muscle spasms, ribs rubbing against each, the rods rubbing on my skin, and other things. The only the thing is no drugs or therapy have helped, at all.
