What Happens If I Miss A Follow Up Checkup For A Fibroid On My Inner Cheek?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I had a fibroid on my inside cheek removed last week by an oral surgeon. it heald quickly and nicely. I forgot to go to my check up. I got a message that I missed my appointment and that the needed to see me. Should I be concerned they found something serious/
Well, a lump on inner cheek that was excised and has healed well, is most probably nothing to be worried for, as in case if would be something serious, it wouldn't be removed without investigation by the surgeon. So chances if something serious are pretty rare. The lumps on inner cheek that are common seen are fibromas that are overgrowth of fibrous tissue on the inner cheek and it is a harmless overgrowth.
They generally occur due to continuous irritation to the cheek due to cheek bite, sharp tooth injury etc and is not harmful.
Post Surgery there is a protocol of follow-up with the patient to see if the surgery site is healing well and how is the surgery outcome. So my suggestion is to relax and get yourself checked once. Also, it is advisable to follow at the follow-up instructions as given to you by your surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
