What Dose Of Phenytoin Syrup Can Be Taken Instead Of Tablet?

Hye, I take Phenytoin in tablet form, quantity, 2.5 tablets, each tablet is of 100mg. Tablets were unavailable so had to buy syrup which says Each 5 ml.contains, Phenytoin USP 30 mg.Questionis, how many tea spoons are to be taken of syrup ? Thanks

Hello,

since 5ml contain 30mg and you've been taking 250mg (2.5 tablets x 100mg) the math says 8 tablets x 30mg = 240mg. 8 x5mL = 40mL that is eight teaspoons (provided that each teaspoon holds 5mL). If you'd like to take the exact dose then you should better use a syringe and fill it up 2-3 times depending on the syringe size until 41.5 mL have been dispensed.
