What Dosage Of Biotin Is Recommended For Lactating Mothers?

I am breast feeding my 6 month old daughter and I took biotin 5000 mcg for 2 days. I didn t realize that this is a lot larger than the recommanded dosage. My daughter seems fine. should I be concerned about her? She does not show any change in behavior.

Hi
I have gone through your question.
The normal recommended dosage of Biotin for a lactating mother is 35 microgram per day. The dosage you have been taking is almost 30 times greater than the permitted levels. Such high dosages more than 35 microgram have not been approved by FDA, hence not considered to be safe to consume more than 35.

Carefully observe your baby for any changes or developments and report to the doctor as soon as you notice anything.
Biotin is a water soluble vitamin and hence easily excreted in the urine, thus it should soon be excreted even by your baby soon, let us hope none of it causes any adverse effects.

Hope this answers your query.
