What Does Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse Indicate?

Hi. I had sex with my husband a few days ago. We stopped because i noticed blood dropped in our blanket and in my legs. Days before i noticed a polyp like thing hanging inside my vaginal entrance. And after i urinate and wiped blood stains in the tissue. After that it will not bleed again until i urinate again. Im not experiencing any pain in my body. What seems to be the problem? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Bleeding after intercourse is not usual and needs a proper evaluation. Since you have noticed a polyp like thing hanging, it could possibly due to it.
However, you need to be evaluated clinically by per speculum examination by a Gynecologist as well as an ultrasound pelvic scan to be done.
The following causes should be ruled out:
1. Cervical cancer, Cervical ectropion and cervical polyps.
2. Cervicitis.
3. Friction during intercourse.
4. Genital sores.
5. Vaginal dryness and vaginitis.
Based on the findings, appropriate treatment needs to be instituted.
All the best.
