I recently went for my physical. My dr. said there is a trace amount of blood in my urine. I am 48 and my urine is always clear. slightly yellow -I ve never noticed anything. What could it be? I have no health problems, exercise daily and am normal weight.
Blood in urine (hematuria) may be due to UTI,genito-urinary calculus, tumour etc. It is important to exclude tumour etc due to your age. You may need clinical evaluation and few investigations. Investigations include routine hemogram, random blood sugar, renal function test and ultrasound of KUB. Ultrasound of KUB region is very important and it can exclude many causes. CT scan of abdomen can be done after evaluation. Proper treatment depend upon findings. You should drink plenty of water.
