What Does This Urine Test Result Indicate?

ben.ervasbenI have had a urine test with the following result: Red Cells = 0-2 White cells = TNTC Epithelial cell = rare Bacteria = Few Mucus Threads = Moderate,I took Ciprofloxacin (for 7 days) a week ago as per my family doctor s advice based on the result of my urinalysis taken two weeks ago as my WBC was 5-10 (with UTI).I am expecting that my UTI would be cured but instead it became worse.I had TURP (for BPH) 6 months ago and I am not sure if it is the cause of my recurring UTI.Your help/expert advice will be much appreciated.Thank you and kind regards,Bener

Dear thanks for the question.

I share your concerns. As per your urine reports your UTI is improving. Ciprofloxacin is good drug for UTI and it has cured your infection, so stay tension free. Regarding cause of infection, your doubt is true, such infections are common after prostate surgery. However other causes of uti can not be ruled out like poor hygiene, urine retention, tendency of stones in urinary system.

Since now you are free from infection as per urine reports I would like to advise you to meet urologist if you again get UTI.
