What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

I am 55 years old and am having some intermittent abd pain. I have moderate amount of blood on urine test( no blood seen by eye and no infection on culture. in June I had an ultra sound that showed 3 uterine fibroids measuring 27.46 mm by 10.85 20.96x4.82 and 23.48 x 6.78 done in GYN office. I had a repeat on done in Hospital that measured 1.2x1.2 cm 2.0x2.1cm and an involuted fibroid 0.8x0.8cm in fundal region. I had a D&C done 3 years ago due to thickened uterine lining and heavy periods. I did not have any fibroids then. Is it unusual to be my age and having these now? I had my period in Nov. and then nothing for 6 months then in June and July I had heavy periods. This month August was just spotting. When I had 6 months off I thought it was menopause. I had a prophylactic Bil mastectomy because of multiple 7 lumpectomy and abnormal cells and the last said could not rule out cancerous cells . My sister died of breast cancer at 42. My sisters daughter had the genetic testing and she did not have the breast cancer Gene. I also had a cyst on my right Ovary the ovary measured 2.3x3.0x3.5cm and contains a septated cyst measuring 2.1x3.4. I am worried about either uterine or Ovarian cancer. My pap smear 2 years ago was normal. They use the one done every 3 years. Should I be worried ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of Bil. mastectomy is done. Now you have fibroid & cysts.

It is because of the fibroid that you are having irregular menstruation, sometimes heavy & at times scanty. You are also in the menopausal phase.

You are suggested to visit your gyne, sometimes heavy periods lead to endometriosis & painful abdominal conditions. The ovarian cysts may also present with abdominal discomfort later in life. Get biopsy done to rule out any malignancy.

Get assessed & examined. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of your symptoms. It can be treated either with medications or surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
