Hi, My dad is 80 years old. We did an ultrasound recently as a routine check. Found the following. 1) Kidneys - Left Measures 10.3 X 5.9 cms A cortical cyst measuring 38X37 mm is seen in lower pole. 2) Prostate - Enlarged measuring 4.4X4.0X3.7cms Vol: 34.9cc
Hello, Wellcome to HCM There is a cortical cyst in lower end of the left kidney and also prostatomegaly.
There presence of cortical cyst in not a condition to worry about unless it contains calcifications or separations and echogenic fluid which might have mentioned in detain in the report.
The prostate gland is enlarged measuring nearly 35 cc which is enlarged. Normal size is about 20 to 25 cc. Enlarged prostate gland may obstruct the urinary tract and patient may feel incomplete feeling of voiding the urine. This leads to the chances of infection and other complications. The treatment for the same could be medical or surgical which depends on the detailed history of the patient. I suggest you to see the specialist for urinary system related problems - urologist. thank you
