Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a PTB history about 9 years ago, I took drugs for 8 months and till now I have been very healthy with no sign of symptoms. I recently went for a tb screening test for a job (last week). They said there is a fibrotic lesion. I told them i have been cured and I have a medical report on this. How do I convince the doctor I am healthy. Please advise me! I am perplexed, because I am perfectly fine
Hello, Thank you for asking at HCM. If you had TBC in the past the skin test for TBC will be positive for almost all your life and you should not have Mantoux or PPD done again in the future. Even if you have had BCGvaccine before the skin test may come out positive in rare cases. What I would recommend is: 1- do quantiferon test. it is a blood test and is more specific than PPD 2- chest x-ray might be helpful to document that you do not have active lung disease 3- take all your medical records related to this issue and set an appointment with a doctor that might go through them and give you a paper that explains your health status
Hope this is helpful and answers to your questions
best regards
Dr Antoneta
