What Does This Chest X-ray Report Indicate?

Good day! My 6-year old son has been suffering from coughs and colds and the result of his x-ray on Wednesday was he has infiltrates on his left upper lobe and is suspected to have Koch s infection. What does that mean? How should he be treated? I have two other sons, aged 8 years old and 4 years old. Should they also be checked up? Should me and my husband be checked up, too? I plan to take him back to the clinic to confirm his x-ray result today? Should the rest of us in the household be evaluated, too? Thank you so much.

Hello my friend
I am Dr.Arianisa
Thanks for your question on HCM

Kochs disease is another name for Tuberculosis
Active tuberculosis (TB) disease is a serious infection that usually affects the lungs. Anyone can develop active TB.

Household members and close regular contacts of a person with active tuberculosis (TB) may be advised to have tests. Close regular contacts may include family, colleagues, friends or classmates, depending on the situation and on how infectious TB is. The usual tests for contacts are a chest X-ray and/or a tuberculin test (Mantoux test).
If these show possible TB, then further tests can be done to look for active TB.

If your son have active tuberculosis (TB) in the lung, he can infect other people until he have taken the correct treatment for two weeks. After that, normally he will not be infectious (but he should continue with the treatment). During the first two weeks of treatment, you will be advised to stay at home with your son (or stay in your room if in hospital) and avoid contact with anyone who has a poor body defences (immune system).
As fast you check your kid as good it is for him and for all of you

Hope everything gets better and this information is helpful to you
Best regards
