What Does This Blood Report Indicate?

I texted HIV negative a month ago but in my blood count today after taking TRAFAN, containing sulphadoxing USP 500mg and pyrimethamine USP 25mg, when showing symptoms of fever, I test low MCV 76.9,low PLT80 , low LYMP18.1 and high mono14.4, what could be causing the low count ? I also tested negative for malaria. A month ago my HB was 15.1 but now drop to 14.4, RCB is 5.23 WBC is 6.12, MCH 27.5, NEUT 67.3, EOS 0.00, BASO 0.2, MCHC 35.80

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The hemoglobin level and red blood cell levels are within the normal range. The MCV is low. MCV is a calculated parameter and depends on red blood cell count and hematocrit.

Due to red blood cell count on the slightly higher side, MCV may below. I suggest you get a peripheral blood smear examination also to know the size of red blood cells.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
