What Does This Below Ultrasound Indicate?
Till 2007 my ultrasound rfeport revals kidney sizes lk-102 cm and rk-101cm Last 2009 June it revaled my lk was shrinked to 63cm rk remained same , Doctor advised me then that since my presurre was normals so not to worry. Last 30th Aug I visited Gen Physician on complain of cough and he advised following medicines and test CALVUM XR As thamplus Cough syrup test Urea , Creatine, Hb, TC Dc ESR which result was 1.5, 11, 10.7, 40 respectively. Based on the above result my doctor again advised for following test - Ultrasound - Result was Left Kidney was small in size (lk 77ccm , rk 102cm) - 24hrs Urine Cretaine Clearence Test - result was 1300 Corrective Clearence - 72.63% -Total Protein Clearence - 0.04% - serum Creatinine - 1.26 Finding this my doctor advised to see a Nephrologist My Nephrologist advised to go for ISOTOPIC Renogram with Captropil study Since my presurre was normal all through out 120/80 so Radiologist advised not to go for Captropil Study and just only Isotopic renogram which revaled as per below : LK -- eGFR - 10% Perfousion - 28% offtake - 21% RK -- eGFR - 37% Perfusion - 77% Offtake - 71% yesterday I went for the repeat test of the followings Hemogram ------------ Hb - 12.2 Erythrocyte Count - 3 990,000 WBC - 12000 Platelet - 237000 ESR - 46 URINE RE ----------- Acidic Plae straw colour Specific Gravity ; 1.01 Albumin/Sugar / protein etc. - Nil Occassipnal Pus Cell and Ephithilial Cell in few present ; Serum Creatinine - 1.2 BUN - Normal Uric Acid - Normal; Na - 142 Potasium - 4.5 Urine Protein Spot 2.8 Ureine Creatinine - 38.2 Protein Creatine Ration : 0.08 Based on the above can you pls advise my present position of both of my Kidney functioning and it s future treatment. It seems your left kidney has reduced in size and function. Your blood pressure has remained normal, so the blood vessels to the kidney are probably not the problem. It is likely that you developed a left kidney infection that caused scarring of the kidney. This is also proved by your ESR which has been high.
If there is no active infection, the kidney is likely to recover some function. The right kidney will increase its function to compensate for the loss of left kidney function.
I would follow up the size of the kidney on ultrasound and the blood renal function tests and urine analysis in 3 - 6 months.
