Hi,

1. Your child is suffering from diarrhoea because of the bacteria infection caused by Escherichia coli also known as E.COLI.
2. Avoid giving him lactose base milk and start giving soy base milk. Sometimes child of age group less than 6 months cannot digest lactose in the milk.
3. Give plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration because of diarrhoea.
4. Syrup zinc to increase gastrointestinal immunity.
5. Nitrofurantoin as antibiotic is not of much help in case of stool infections instead you can give ofloxacin and ornidazole combination syrup mix with 2-3 bits of sugar. As I can see your baby is 3 months old so the weight must be around 5 kgs. SO THE DOSE WILL BE 1ML/3KG BODY WEIGHT

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Infectious Diseases Specialist
