What Does This MRI Report Specify?

MRI report says The vertebral arteries originate from the proximal subclavian arteries. The left vertebral artery is moderately hypoplastic becoming severely hypoplastic distally. The right vertebral artery is unremarkable. They converge to form the basilar artery, which also appears unremarkable. What does it mean by moderately and severly hypoplastic?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The MRI interpretation of MRI report is as follows:
The vertebral artery is hypoplastic or there is narrowing and under-development of vertebral artery. The under-development of vertebral artery is severe distally.
Vertebral artery is one of the arteries of the head and neck region.
Hypoplastic vertebral artery can lead to hypertension or increased pressure in the arteries.
Thus, you need to consult your referring doctor for review of MRI report and plan further course of action.

Thanks and take care
