What Does This CAT Scan Report Indicate?

Hi I went into the hospital on Friday evening around 7pm and later found out after a cat scan that I had a 10 mm kidney stone in my urethra I was sent home with pain meds and told to call the urologist on Monday I went back 24 hours later in unbearable pain and was told I would be having surgery the next morning. should I have been sent home after a urologist looked at my cat scan and saw that I had a 10 mm stone?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The 10 mm stone in the ureter with severe pain needs immediate surgical attention. Depending upon the underlying presence or absence of hydronephrosis, the decision is made to put up a Double J stent in the renal pelvis from the cystoscopy and ureteroscope approach. The ideal management is stone blasting with intra or extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy via electric shock waves.

Once the gravels of stone are fragmented, they pass easily through the DJ stent in the system. Later on flush therapy with conservative therapy give best results for final recovery. Do consume plenty of liquids following stone removal and surely discuss the need of stone chemical analysis with your doc after the procedure is over.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
