What Does The Urinalysis Report Indicate?

Hi,

My father had a TURP operation on 27th June after the operation he got UTI and was on medication for 3 weeks. He got his urinalysis done on 3 rd aug and the RBC count is 50 and the pus cels are 4-6/ hpf. What should we conclude from this report. Thanks in advance

Hello, sad to hear you that your father had develped UTI. If I am your advising doctor I would like to tell you right now your father is not having infection as suggested by the pus cells, but also has highe RBC count 50, Which arises suspicion in my mind about UTI. But I would suggest you to do Gram's Stain of the urine and culture sensitivity of urine. Gram's stain will tell you probable organisms like Grams negative, Positive and helps doctor in treatment. Culture Sensitivity will give you about resistance pattern of the organisms and identification. so if organisms are present in urine they will be treated according to the sensitive antibiotics.
