What Does The Trans Vaginal Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Hi, I am 32 years old, 1.58m, 52kg. I just have two IVF cicles and both failed. I had a hyperestimulation with 17 eggs. However, only 6 had survived and we were able only to try twice, the reminiscent eggs also died. My last period, which was the one to check the IVF hasn't worked, was on April 22 and so far I haven't bleed... yesterday I had an Transvaginal Ultrasound and the diagnoses was: I. Uterus: 5.24 x 5.74 x 4.05 cm (LxWxH) Anteverted Abnormalities noted: the anterior wall measures 1.07 cms while the posterior wall measures 2.1 cms with coarse achotecture and a heterogenous mass of ill defined borders within measuring 3.28x2.9x2.2cms II. Endometrium: 1.01 cm Hyperechoic Compatible with Secretory Phase No Abonormalities IV. Adnexae: no abormalities VI. No fluid in the cul-de-sac Diagnosis: Normal-sized anteverted uterus with intact endometrium. Consider posterior adenomyosis as described. Normal both ovaries with a follicle in the left.My doctor is out of town. I will see her on Saturday, but I am really anxious regarding this.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your reports suggests adenomyosis in posterior region of the uterus. It is a medical condition characterized by the presence of ectopic glandular tissue within myometrium(muscle of uterus).

Exact cause of adenomyosis is unknown. It has been associated with uterine trauma that may break the barrier between the endometrium and myometrium, such as a caesarean section, tubal ligation etc.

It is mainly treated conservatively.Anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen or other NSAIDs are generally prescribed.
Hormonal manipulation may include combined or progestin only oral contraceptives are also prescribed.
Hysterectomy is needed in few cases.
Other findings are within normal limit.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.

Take Care
