What Does The Lipid Profile Regarding The Chest Pain Indicate?

My mother, 51 years of age, had a regular health checkup recently. The results shows high cholesterol. She had mild chest pains twice in two months along with left arm pain. The lipid profile results are as below.
Total Cholesterol (CHO-PAP) - 225 mg/dl
Triglycerides (GPO) - 212 mg/dl
HDL Cholesterol (Direct) - 43 mg/dl
LDL Cholesterol (Direct) - 159 mg/dl
Ratio - 5.2
The ECG is normal. She has been advised for treadmill test and had a few medicines prescribed for two months. Otherwise, she is very normal and does all her regular activities by herself. I just wanted to know how serious is this condition?

Your mother's high total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol suggest that your mother's chest pain may be due to deposition of cholesterol in the artery supplying the heart . Her mild chest pain occurring twice in a month may be due to block in these arteries. It is likely that she has anginal pain. Though ECG is normal, her tread mill will suggest whether she needs angiogram and angioplasty/cornary artery bypass surgery. However from your description it appears that your mother will become alright with medicines alone without need for angioplasty etc. To be on the safe side, it would be better if she undergoes tread mill test.
