Hello

Report suggests enlarged prostate. It may be reason for urgency of urine.
Estimation of PSA should also be done,it will rule out malignancy in prostate.
Enlarged prostate respond well to medications. You should take it continuously.
Surgery is required in few cases.
you should consult your urologist.

Hi,

Your ultrasound report is explained below in simple language.

1. Prostate is enlarged in size with normal echo-texture. Vol: 31cc

The volume of prostate gland is 31 cc. Usually it is normal up to 25 cc in volume. In your case is is showing grade I enlargement. This is mild enlargement and is usually treated by medications.

2. Urinary bladder is partially distended. Wall thickness is normal. No Calculi. Prevoid volume- 170 cc Post void residue 38cc

The prostate is located at the base of urinary bladder. Due to the mild enlargement, urinary bladder is unable to empty itself completely and there is around 38 cc out of 170 cc urine remaining in the bladder after passing urine, at the time of doing ultrasound scan.

Please do not worry as it is only mild enlargement. You can avoid getting up many times at night to pass urine by passing urine before going to bed and drinking small amounts of water at night.

Doing Prostate Specific Antigen levels (PSA) in blood might help if it has not been done earlier. It is routinely done in the elderly men above 60 years of age.
