What Does The Following Endoscopy Result Mean?

Hi,my daughter had endoscopy in 14 if this month .they gave me report that says ,oesophagus normal,stomach normal ,pylorus normal ,duodenum with scalloped(coeliac)mucosa.they said we don t need to wait for biopsy result n advised us to start gluten free diet for her.can you plz tell me what all these results actually mean and also if her biopsy results will make any difference or not.many thsnks

Hi you have not provided clinical details. Most specific test is reversal of mucosa from celiac like to normal mucosa after gluten free diet. Biopsy in celiac disease is not highly specific. It is only suggestive. U can also do antibody test in blood. U can also do genetic study like hla DQ 2 and 8. These have strong negative predictive value. In celiac disease u have to avoid wheat rye oat barley.
