What Does The Following Biopsy Report Suggest?

I recently had a biopsy done on my protate, and it came back positive 12/22/17 E. prostate.left lateral apex prostatic adenocarcinoma gleason 6 (3+3) involving 10% of single core G. prostate right lateral, core biopsy prostatic adenocarcinoma gleason 6 (3+3)involving 8% of single core J.right lateral mid, core biopsy prostatic adenocarcinoma gleason 7 (3+4) involving approx. 42% of single core. Should I have my prostate remove immediately or monitored over time. I had ne brother to that passed, and another that had a gleason 8 and had his prostate removed. I am 65 1/2 years old. And so, what is the best type of surgery. Thank you very much! Daniel, Sterling Heights, MI.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The biopsy report suggestive of prostate cancer. It is in early stage and doesn't spread to other areas. Surgery is the treatment of choice and entire prostate has to be removed. It can be done by a newer techniques, like TURP, where it is removed in fragments through a scope passed through urethra. Consult a urologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
