Do I have the possibility to have PTB or lung cancer..i am 46 years old and I been hospitalized sometimes because of my asthma and they xray me and all the results are my lungs are clear ..only now I encounter this kind of result..thanks,I m dhel
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your clinical correlation is necessary here. Just first repeat the x-ray in apicolordotic view to confirm if opacity is present.
If weight loss, enlarged lymph node, and cough are present than sputum examination for AFB is done. If opacity not present in repeat x-ray then no need to worry. As such asthma and tuberculosis are not related to each other and not the cause vice versa.
Don't think directly of cancer. Opacity is usually from infective pneumonic consolidation. Consult a pulmonologist for examination and discuss all these.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
