Hello Doctor , I have got the results of my blood test and I see that my AST/SGOT : 41 and ALT/SGPT : 76 . I see that the ALT/SGPT is above the range which is 8-40 in my test results . Please let me know if this is something I need to take care of my health as soon as possible. Thanks Sumanth

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows
1. AST and ALT are enzymes produced in the liver. AST is normal, however ALT is elevated The enzyme levels raised as a response to inflammation.
2. If you are a alcoholic or obese, then closely follow up with enzyme levels as it is an indicator of ongoing liver injury.
3. Also follow up with other parameters related to liver function.
4. If you are asymptomatic, then there is no need to bother as it is a nonspecific raise.
Hope this helps.
Regards
