Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 49 year old female and I am scheduled for back surgery in two weeks. My EKG posted to my chart states, Normal sinus rhythm..borderline poor R wave progression V1-V4, cannot rule out Anterior infarction, age undetermined, ABNORMAL ECG when compared with ECG of April 2011. Is this something to worry about and do you think it could possibly require further testing or prevent surgery? Thank you.
The keg is abnormal and may need further testing though it may not prevent the surgery. The EKD shows that the heart has slight weakness and that this could possibly be caused by some previous heart-attack.
Though it's not confirmed and necessary there is only a possibility of it by reading the ECG.
So its necessary that this is evaluated by heart doctor and he may advise further tests.
It's very unlikely to prevent your surgery even if these changes are true but your surgeon and anaesthetist must know this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
